Hello, Super Stars! 🌟 My name is Teacher Bernadette, but you can call me Detto Sensei!

I have a degree in Computer Engineering and I am a TEFL-certified English teacher. I enjoy helping students learn English in a clear, fun, and meaningful way.

I specialize in phonics, grammar and sentence structure, and listening skills. While volunteering as an International English Teacher in Fukuoka, Japan, I taught students of different levels in Munakata City. I created simple and interactive activities for elementary students to help them communicate in basic English. For junior high school students ( 7th, 8th and 9th grade), I helped develop and check their English speaking skills by listening to their introductions and likes. In one of the university classes, I encouraged students to continue using English as their second language by building their confidence and motivation. I reminded them that learning English opens doors to new opportunities, helps them connect with people around the world, and gives them the tools to succeed in their future. I always tried to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel proud of their progress and excited to keep learning.

My lessons are friendly, fun, and well-organized, and I always make sure that students learn something new in every class.

When I'm not teaching, I love playing with my dog ​​🐶 (Hachiko) and cooking bento every morning 🍱. I also enjoy traveling, watching movies, reading, and eating yummy food!

●先生のレッスンスタイルについて聞かせてください。

私の教え方は五感を使ったもので、特にフォニックスに力を入れています。また、生徒の想像力をかきたて、楽しみながら学習できるようにしたいと思っています。

●講師をしていてやりがいを感じたエピソードを聞かせてください。

先生は、子供たちに社会に出て成功するために必要なスキルを与えています。また、私が経験した最高の経験の一つは、ほとんどの生徒さんが英検に合格し、入学試験や面接にも合格して、海外へ留学することができたことです。毎日が違っていて刺激的で、特に生徒さんの笑顔を見たり、レッスンで学んだりする姿を見るのは最高の経験であり、充実感を感じます。

●これまでの経歴と講師になったきっかけを聞かせてください。

私はコンピュータ・エンジニアで、国内だけでなく海外でも多くの仕事をしてきました。 前職はアメリカの会社で金融の専門家として働いていました。母が家でコンパニオンを必要としていたことをきっかけに教師になり、英語力を活かしてここ産経で教えることにしました。コミュニケーションへの情熱が私の人生を変え、生徒の価値観を形成していることを実感しました。

●今興味があること・趣味・休暇の過ごし方を聞かせてください。

若い頃は何でもやっていたと思っているので、今は教職に専念しているところです。しかし、私のことを知っている生徒さんはみんなそうですが、私がどれだけ食事や家事をするのが好きなのか、暇な時には知っています。そして、私は休みがあることよりも授業があることの方が好きなのです。休みは体調が悪い時には月に1～2回程度です。
