Views on Crime and the Death Penalty

There are many countries that have the death penalty for certain crimes. Several countries had it in place at one time and then after much debate changed their laws to ban it. In some countries the manner in which it is carried out has changed over the years due to debate based on input from the people of that country.

The death penalty is carried out by different methods throughout the world and the methods can be different within the same country. Some of the different methods for carrying out the death penalty today are; hanging, electric chair, lethal injection, stoning and beheading. Some can cause a slow death and others are usually quite fast.

Let us now give some consideration to the reasons for the different views on the justification for having the death penalty. Some people view it as inhumane to take the life of another person no matter what crime they have committed that has put them in the position to be sentenced to death. There are other people that believe that if a person has taken the life of another then they deserve to be put to death.
