Do you think this mobile game will sell in the States?
Jack
I think so. Japanese game applications are quite popular there.
Atsushi
I feel they might be tired of this concept. We have to at least pay off the research and development costs.
Jack
How about China? I think China is still an exciting market in this industry. The smartphones and mobile game users are increasing dramatically.
Atsushi
We’ll definitely keep an eye on that. In the mean time, we have to watch out for copyright violations.
アツシ :この携帯ゲームはアメリカで売れるかな?
ジャック:いけるんじゃないかな?日本のゲームアプリは人気だからね。
アツシ :このコンセプトに飽きてきているように思うんだ。研究開発費分は稼がないといけないからね。
ジャック:中国はどうなの?中国は、まだこの業界では活気のある市場だと思うけど。スマートフォンや携帯ゲームユーザーは劇的に増え続けているからね。
アツシ :もちろん視野に入れているよ。一方で、著作権の侵害を監視しないといけないね。

Using Adjectives Ending in “-ing” or “-ed”

~ing / ~edで終わる形容詞

Directions: First repeat after your tutor and then read aloud again by yourself.
課題: 先生の後に続いてくり返した後、今度はひとりで発音してみましょう。

We use adjectives with “ed” to describe a feeling.
We use adjectives with “ing” to describe what we feel about something.

I was disappointed about the New Products seminar that I attended.
The New Products seminar was disappointing.

I felt relieved after I finished the financial report.
It was relieving to have completed the financial report.

They weren’t as bored as they expected to be at the company sports event.
The company sports event wasn’t as boring as they expected.

Expressing your opinion:

1) Adjectives that end in ‘-ing’ describe the thing that causes the emotion – a boring lesson makes you feel bored.
(EX) I could listen to him for hours. He’s one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met.

2) Adjectives that end in ‘-ed’ describe emotions – they tell us how people feel about something.
(EX) I was very bored in the maths lesson. I almost fell asleep.
